Pattaya
as a honeymoon destination
Pattaya has got to be a wise choice for
those beach honeymooners who want great
beaches with the availability
of a lively nightlife scene. You can swim,
sunbathe and relax with a sea view under a
palm umbrella in the daytime, go to a
disco, nightclub or enjoy a beach party in
the evening and retire to your luxurious
honeymoon hotel or honeymoon apartment
whenever you feel like it.
Hotels
There is such a wide choice. Up market first
class hotels and resorts with spas, tennis
courts and rooms with Jacuzzis. Mid range
hotels with all the comforts of home, great
swimming pools, fitness centres and great
service. Budget hotels with air con, cable
TV, a small pool and prices under 40$ per
night. There are rooms to be had for 20$ or
less but I certainly would not recommend
them.
My choice would be
a small boutique hotel right by a fairly
secluded beach but with easy access to the
town and the nightlife. Accommodation is in
Thai wooden bungalows set in a dense
tropical garden. Privacy is paramount. The
rooms are superb with a small kitchen, big
fridge and microwave. Cable TV, aircon of
course but with a huge brass fan on the roof
if you want to get sweaty. It is the small
touches that are so noticeable. cotton buds,
silk slippers and an embroidered silk gown
that you get to take home as a souvenir.
At this hotel the
beach is just a few steps away. A small
track leads down to the main road where a
cheap ride into town can be had for 20 Baht.
Traffic is banned from this track in the
daytime and at night few cars or motorcycles
use it. The water is clean and safe here as
long as you stay away from the water sports
vendors.
Relax with a Thai
massage right there on the beach under the
shade of the coconut palms or sample the
snacks on offer from the wandering vendors.
Restaurants & Food
Tourists flock to Pattaya from every
corner of the globe. The restaurants and
food on offer reflects this. What is so good
are the prices. So many restaurants, so much
competition that prices are very
competitive.
Of course if you
are on a budget then eat at the numerous
food stalls noodles, rice dishes, barbecue
snacks or stock up in essentials from the
local store or supermarkets
Activities
Of course you have your own 'activites'
planned. Sometimes, just sometimes you will
want to get out of the room and experience
Thailand. Just a list to show the variety -
parasailing, jetskis, banana boat, golf
courses, tennis, fitness centers,
shopping.......
Nightlife
Disco's and drinking parties that are so
popular with most of the 'young crowd' in
Europe. There are many bars, Some are open
air, some in shop houses, some alone some in
complexes. Couples are most welcome. These
bars have minimal entertainment usually a
TV, music playing and sometimes a resident
band. They will take good care of you,
supply cold towels and smiling faces. There
are many organized and impromptu parties
often with free food and snacks.
